Brown Round Cushion with Kantha

CODE : CC746

* Kantha Stitch

The autunmnal colours of this hand-embroidered cushion are a lovely contrast to the kantha stitch side panels.

'Kantha' comprises of layer upon layer of vintage saris, sewn together with a running stitch. In Sanskrit, the word kantha simply means rags. It's a wonderful way to give new life to old saris!

This cushion comes pre-filled with fibre filling (no zip, inner non-removable).
40 x 40 x 10 cm
We love pretty much anything embroidered with kantha stitch. Maybe it's from years in India - but there's something so enriching about hand kantha, or gudri stitch as it is sometimes called. In this case, the hand work is totally amazing. It is of a very high standard and vintage throws like these are becoming more and more rare to find. They have been sourced from a member of the British Association for Fair Trade Shops and Suppliers (BAFTS - see our ethical buying policy for more details) and so although they're genuinely old pieces, a fair price has been paid for each piece. If you love vintage fabrics too, then you will just love these cushions. All one offs, but loveliness guaranteed...just speak to us if you want specific colours or designs and we will try our best to match your needs.
